# Rename, sort and find footage

Hours of clips with names like C0042.MP4 and no idea where the good shot is

These tools sort clips into bins, add metadata, and let you search footage by what is in the shot or what someone said

## See it work

## Real examples

* Built a Claude chat for Resolve using samuelgursky's Resolve MCP server as his starting point. It was best at bulk jobs like flagging every clip shorter than 50 frames or splitting the media pool into timelines by file name, and slower than clicking for one off tasks (Poul Waligora, head of post production at ACN International, runs Wild Lion Media, Wild Lion Media blog 2026-04-03: https://wildlion.media/claude-davinci-resolve/)
  > Simple, repetitive tasks are fast as hell, but more complex work is still slow enough that you spend more time waiting and debugging than actually saving time
* Tested the Jumper app in Final Cut Pro and Premiere Pro on his own footage. Searching for St Pauls or Times Square found the right shots, and speech search found every interview where people said summit. This review is from before Jumper added its MCP server (Iain Anderson, reviewer, ProVideo Coalition, ProVideo Coalition 2024-11-06: https://www.provideocoalition.com/review-ai-driven-video-search-with-jumper/)
  > If you're an editor with a large collection of b-roll that you spend a lot of time trawling through, or a documentary maker with weeks worth of clips you've been meaning to watch and then log, this could be life changing
* Used Claude with Mike Chambers' MCP tools for Premiere (media-utils-mcp, which pairs with adb-mcp) to import a multi day shoot and sort it into bins, sequences and selects with markers, then compare the selects with the storyboard stills (Jason Levine, YouTube, YouTube 2025-08-28: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_aon3K6ElI)
  > talking to Claude means being very explicit, and it definitely takes getting used to

## Ideas to try (ideas, not user reports)

* Have the agent sort a multi day shoot into one bin and one sequence per day based on clip dates
* Rename clips inside your editor, not on disk, so relinking and conform still work
