What it does

A runbook and scripts that let Claude or Codex edit talking-head and screen-recording footage in DaVinci Resolve Studio into a finished cut: Whisper transcripts, a paper edit, pause tightening, A/B take choices, motion graphics, music, captions and a 4K export.

The project describes itself as: "Runbook and tools for letting an AI agent edit videos in DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1+: paper edit, tightening, A/B picks, timeline patching, HTML motion graphics, music, captions, QA."

How to set it up

  1. In Resolve Studio 21.1+, open File > Setup AI Assistants and install your assistant (set External scripting to Local if it can't connect)
  2. Install ffmpeg, Python 3 with pip install -r requirements.txt, and Whisper
  3. For graphics, run npm install and npx playwright install chromium in the motion folder
  4. Link the folder into ~/.claude/skills/resolve-edit-kit, then ask Claude to edit the footage in your folder with the resolve-edit-kit skill

This is a plain English summary of the project's own instructions. Commands and versions change, so always follow the current README at the source link

Safety notes

  • Needs the paid Studio edition of Resolve (it uses File > Setup AI Assistants)
  • The author says the result is a normal, decent video, not a great one: you still record, choose takes and give notes
  • Set the project playback frame rate by hand before reviewing, because the API cannot change it

General rule: open a duplicate of your project before letting any agent make changes, and read what a script does before approving it
