SpliceKit
Adds a command palette, an MCP server and a plugin framework to Final Cut Pro, including new panels and a JSON-RPC runtime.
How to set it up
- Install the latest release.
- Create the MCP virtualenv at ~/.venvs/splicekit-mcp per README.
- Connect your MCP client.
This is a plain-English summary of the project's own instructions. Commands and versions change, so always follow the current README at the source link.
Safety notes
- Injects into Final Cut Pro's runtime. Back up libraries.
General rule: open a duplicate of your project before letting any agent make changes, and read what a script does before approving it.
Alternatives and related tools
FCPXML MCP
Lets Claude read, edit and generate Final Cut Pro timelines via FCPXML (cut detection, markers, roles), with an optional macOS Live Mode.
podcli
Turns a long podcast episode into vertical clips with face tracking and burned-in captions; can also hand multicam edits to Premiere or Final Cut as a timeline.
fcp-mcp (dreliq9)
Inspects, generates and transactionally edits FCPXML, then optionally hands verified files to Final Cut Pro; the default profile never mutates live projects.
Jumper (MCP for footage search)
Local footage analysis app whose MCP server lets Claude or Codex run visual, transcript and people search, pull selects and build sequences for Premiere, Resolve, Avid and Final Cut.
EditAssist (MCP)
Local toolkit that ingests, transcribes and semantically searches footage, assembles rough cuts, drives your NLE and renders, with Claude Code orchestrating over MCP.
