Submagic vs OpusClip for editors who use AI agents

Last checked

Pick Submagic MCP (official) if you already have the video and mostly want styled captions, B roll and trims on it, and you're fine giving your agent an API key. Its MCP works from the $19 Starter plan, which includes 10 API minutes a month

Pick OpusClip MCP (official) if you start from long recordings or YouTube links and want the clips picked for you, then scheduled to Shorts, TikTok and Reels. Its MCP signs in with OAuth, but calling the tools needs Pro, Max or Business

How we checked

We read each company's own MCP docs and pricing page on 21 Oct 2026. We haven't run a paid job through either MCP yet, so this compares what each one says it does, not the quality of the clips

The short version

Submagic is the cheaper way to give an agent captioning and editing on videos you already picked. OpusClip is the one to choose when you want the agent to find the moments for you, as long as you're on Pro or higher

Questions

Can I add both to Claude Code?

Yes. They're separate MCP servers with different names, so you can add both and tell the agent which one to use

Which is cheaper for agent use?

Submagic's MCP works on Starter at $19 a month with 10 API minutes. OpusClip's Starter is $15 a month, but its MCP tools need Pro ($29 a month) or higher

Can the agent post without asking me?

Both can publish or schedule posts. On OpusClip's own server those tools act right away, so ask the agent to show you its plan before it posts
